Eastern European Marriage Chest

An eastern European dowry chest dating from the mid to late 19th century in beautiful condition holding most of its original external artwork. Inside is the added surprise that the chest still retains its original candle box and faint remains of the very old paint to the inside lid.

The box would of been used for a bride to take her precious linens and valuables with her to the grooms home and her new life.

The colours are amazing, they are still vibrant and the overall look is truly charming.
